Carmen and Donald’s March wedding at Koury Farms was a celebration filled with deep meaning, emotional tributes, and the kind of love that feels destined. Their story began in Fort Worth, TX in 2019, just months before Carmen was set to return home to Atlanta to begin a new Master’s program. In a twist of fate that seemed orchestrated by the universe, Donald received a promotion and relocation to Marietta just weeks before Carmen’s move. It felt like an invisible string had been tying them together all along.
The proposal, sweet and simple, took place at Carmen’s family’s beach house at sunset—an intimate moment that perfectly reflected their thoughtful relationship. Donald suggested a sunset walk on the beach one evening during their December trip, and with asked Carmen to be his wife. Their romantic engagement set the tone for a meaningful March wedding celebration in Georgia.
Their March wedding date—March 1—was chosen with great intention. It marked ten years and one day after Carmen and her mom picked out her wedding dress, shortly after her 20th birthday. At the time, her mother had just been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and picking out the dress together was a way to preserve a future memory. Carmen wore that same gown, lovingly altered, and slightly yellowed with time—a beautiful symbol of love and legacy that added even more emotion to their March wedding day.
Carmen honored her late mother throughout the day, wearing her mother’s veil and engagement ring, and recognizing “borrowed mothers” in the ceremony. Her bridal party was made up of lifelong friends, college roommates, and her sister-in-law, making their March wedding feel warm, intimate, and deeply personal.
One of the most unique touches? A wedding cake inspired by Carmen’s ongoing Neapolitan ice cream research study! Guests enjoyed a chocolate cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream—perfectly balanced in honor of her carefully measured experiment. It was a fun and delicious way to personalize their March wedding celebration.
Koury Farms provided the perfect setting for their March wedding. Carmen and Donald loved the idea of supporting a family-owned venue with built-in decor, a curated list of vendors, day-of coordination, and off-season pricing that fit their March 1 date perfectly. Located just an hour from Atlanta with plenty of onsite parking, it checked every box—and then some—for a stress-free, beautiful March wedding day.
